Training 1: The Economics of Perpetual Poverty: Policy Solutions
Date: Thursday May 9, 2024
Time: 11:00 am CT/10:00 am MT – 12:30 pm CT/11:30 am MT
Where: Virtual Via Zoom
Description: In pre-COVID 2018-19, the economy was booming, unemployment was as low as economists thought possible, wages were rising, and the Federal Poverty Level was low and creeping down. And yet, the United Way A.L.I.C.E. and Urban League studies of real lived economic experience in America showed that about 40% of the population were living in households that could not afford a survival budget without public assistance. Then COVID made things worse. What's wrong with this picture? Everything. You will find this session both interesting and helpful.

Training 2: Economics that Don't Perpetuate Poverty
Date: Thursday May 16, 2024
Time: 11:00 am CT/10:00 am MT - 12:30 pm CT/11:30 am MT
Where: Virtual Via Zoom
Description: Designed as a follow-up to the previous week’s presentation; "The Economics of Perpetual Poverty," but also as a stand-alone, this presentation will dig deeper into the primary cause of poverty in America and explore and examine viable alternatives which exist in other similarly developed countries. Or could. An interactive exploration of the possible, with some practical take-aways and a provocative glimpse at what lies ahead for poverty in America.
